Boot Camp

Marines,

Please answer the following question and please include your name and rank. The reason I need this question answer is because in August we are doing a story on the training when we went to MCRD to see the Marine Corps training. I have a column also in ,'The Veterans Voice.' and this would be a great question to have answered. Thank you in advance. We were going to do the story in July but a few things came up and we have to wait until August .

How did you feel when you fist faced the yellow footprints,'

great opportunity to email our Marines

Hello all! Some of you know me, some don't. I am using your email address from the most recent "Messages from Home." I hope you don't mind.

I wanted to share Major Gary Bourland's (aka Major Pain from www.OneMarinesView.com - OMV) effort to get his guys some extra words of support. It's simple - all you have to do is email your message to: dirtpeople@gmail.com

Thanks a bunch!
Susie :)

From Major Gary Bourland - Support our Marines with a simple email
==============================================

Your servicemembers are making a difference regardless of the small amount of press showing their great achievements. YOU know they are doing great, make a difference yourself and email them your thoughts at dirtpeople@gmail.com !

What would you say to a warrior deployed in Iraq? If you could chat with him? You might say "Thanks for protecting us", or "We support you", if you were somewhere in passing. But what if you were sitting down, sharing your feelings over dinner? Then what would you say to him? Think about it, because you now have that opportunity.

We have a large group of Marines currently located in a remote area of Iraq. Mail might arrive once a week if the fates are with them, and water is obtained from a well on site. These are your Marines, living on the edge of the empire, alone and determined to succeed. They don't live in Fallujah, they don't have a PX or a store. They operate with the bare bones and a can do attitude. Adapt and overcome are the pillars of their structure, while rebuilding in an insurgent filled area. Police stations are built and governed by Lt's, and life and death decisions are made by 20 something year olds.

They sleep in WWII era wooden huts and sleeping bags, as the constant blowing dirt finds its way into everything they own. They cherish the basic things most take for granted in the states. Operating flawlessly in the 100+ weather is not the exception, it's the expected. They are a tight group that redefines the phrase, "No Better Friend, No Worse Enemy".

While deployed, I've heard about others who have asked you, our awesome supporters, to step up to the plate. You've been asked to help keep morale high and to show your men how much you appreciate them. And you have! Well, I'm asking again.

Through our blog www.OneMarinesView.com (OMV) "Letters From Home", you can send your warriors in Iraq an email to show them how much you care. You may have sent a letter in the past where one or two servicemen got to read it. This time, sending in an email will give OMV the right to publish it in any format, thereby allowing me to publicly post them all. This way many will benefit from your support, instead of just a couple. Please take just a few minutes to let your Marines know how proud you are of their outstanding service, and incredible spirit.

Your servicemembers are making a difference regardless of the small amount of press showing their great achievements. YOU know they are doing great, make a difference yourself and email them your thoughts at dirtpeople@gmail.com !

Haditha Marine prepares to sue Murtha over smearCongressman had accused soldiers of killing 'in cold blood'

With most of the eight Marines charged in the Haditha, Iraq, incident now exonerated, the highest-ranking officer among the accused is considering a lawsuit against Democratic Rep. John Murtha, who fueled the case by declaring the men cold-blooded killers.

In an interview with nationally syndicated radio talk host Michael Savage, the lead attorney for Lt. Col. Jeffrey Chessani said he and his client will look into suing Murtha and the Time magazine reporter, Tim McGuirk, who first published the accusations by Iraqi insurgents.

But the attorney, Brian Rooney, said nothing will happen immediately because he wants Chessani, described as a devout Christian and the father of six homeschooled children, completely "out of the woods" legally before any action is taken. The government, through Lt. Col. S.M. Sullivan, today filed a notice that it would appeal the case to the next judicial level.

As WND reported, a military judge at Camp Pendleton in California yesterday dismissed charges that Chessani failed to properly investigate the Nov. 19, 2005 incident in which 24 Iraqi men, women and children were killed.

Rooney, an attorney for the Thomas More Law Center who served a tour of duty in Iraq himself, is urging citizens to tell their representatives in Congress and military officials that they want the case to come to an end.

Josh,

I have been incredibly busy. I am going to reach out to you and everyone that supports veteran reintegration into society. As you know, my long time vision was not the deployed troops, but when they came home. Here is my request. Please visit www.g5global.com/contact.html and complete the form so that I can keep you abreast of what I am doing and ask all those that you know to do so as well.

I am sending the narrative I submitted to the IRS for my tax exemption. This is my calling and I will reach every living veteran to take part of this program. This is what I have been working towards. But to succeed I need you to be on my email list and your friends and family. That is how you can support me in this new endeavor. I hope you will join my cause by completing the online form. Al

To the shores of Iwo Jima (1945)

An Academy Award nominee for Best Documentary, this 20 minute Technicolor production unfolds with graphic energy the nearly month long battle for Iwo Jima, a volcanic island lying 700 miles southeast of Japan, in which 20000 Japanese and nearly 7000 American fighting men were killed, a struggle eternalized by Joe Rosenthal's photograph of five Marines and a Navy corpsman raising a giant U.S. flag atop 550 foot high Mt. Suribachi, cinematically captured here in this well-edited (by Warner Bros.) effort

Lima 3/25 was arguably among the hardest hit ground units to have served in Iraq. Out of a combat strength of 184, they were awarded 59 Purple Hearts, 23 of which were posthumous awards. “Combat Diary: The Marines Of Lima Company” tells the story of their deployment by weaving together interviews the producers did with the Marines and their families after they returned and actual footage the Marines filmed of themselves while in Iraq. http://www.aetv.com/listings/episode_details.do?episodeid=163325

CLINTON'S 4 McCain

"Sour grapes make great wine"
We're sore losers? Can't accept the outcome of the primaries? We want to "take our ball" and go home? We're racists?

Well, sour grapes make great wine and we are NOT accepting Sen. Obama to represent us in the White House. He doesn't represent us, or grassroots Americans. He represents elitism, class warfare, demagoguery, race-baiting and misogyny. That's his vision for America and the Democratic Party, not ours.

We object to him on many levels, but none have to do with the color of HIS skin. Clearly though he has a problem with color (or lack thereof) and if he isn't outright racist, certainly doesn't mind playing that race card. But it's not even a 'race' card per se, it's a color card. Because we believe there is only one race, the Human race. And people like Obama have been groomed just for this purpose, to use our diversity as a weapon to always have us fighting one another, always keep us divided. We are not accepting that and we are not accepting him.
We will vote for Senator John McCain and help defeat what we believe is evil in our midst and send a message loud and clear that we will be heard and we will not tolerate bigotry, separatism and everything else Obama clearly stands for.
That's who we are...

Volunteers...Who worked for Sen. Hillary Clinton's cause and who donated, gave tirelessly of our time, effort and energy, and watched her bullied out of the campaign by sexism, misogyny, reverse racism and mockery. Sen. Obama now calls the Democratic party "mine" and is looking to do the same with the entire country. We cannot sit idly by while this junior Senator becomes basically the ruler of the free world, with the majority of the House and Senate Democratic, the DNC fawning at his feet, the media worshiping him, and possibly three Supreme Court Justice seats on the line in the coming years.

Should we stay home then, and just fall in line like Stepford Wives? Only if you want to tell the world reverse racism is accepted in the USA, sexism and misogyny have no consequences, ageism and mockery by a president is acceptable, appeasement of terrorism is noble, and the Democratic process is Select your candidate not ELECT your candidate. We will vote for Sen. John McCain not out of anger, not out of spite, but because he is an honorable American who may not speak the most eloquent words, or give the greatest speeches, but when he does speak we can believe him.

Care Package party

Hello Josh!

I am in charge of organizing and putting together Post 291's boxes to be sent to the troops. I received your letter a couple of months ago in regards to Marines that you have adopted that would enjoy goodies and letters from home. Post 291 is having a shipping party on June 8th, which is when members come down to the Post to put boxes together of supplies that we have collected and label the boxes to be sent out the following day.

I hope you are enjoying your weekend and I look forward to talking to you soon!!
