Volunteers needed for Seabee Deployment/Family Day

Good afternoon everyone!

On Saturday, July 11th, a Seabee unit from Lakehurst NAES will be holding a Deployment/Family Day and we're looking for a few good volunteers ;)

The event will be held in two parts: one will be from 8:30 am to 12:30 pm and consist of serving coffee, cake etc. to the families coming in who will be getting their deployment briefings. The second part of the day will run from 12:30 pm to 4:30 pm - that will be the BBQ fun of the day. The crowd expectations are around 400 people.

For those of you who are unaware, Lakehurst has a notorious place in New Jersey history as the site of the Hindenberg disaster, and our SeaBees (or Construction Battalions) have had their own place in our country's history stretching back to World War II. They build bases, air strips, roads - you get the idea. Their unofficial motto is "Can do"!

If you are able to assist in any part of the day or the entire day, please let me know. We'd love to see you there. If you can help, I'd need the following information if you do not have military ID:

1) Name of the driver of the vehicle
2) Driver's license number
3) Names of all others in the vehicle
4) Make and model of vehicle

Thank you everyone for all you do!!!

JULY 4TH MARINE BBQ

Save the date - July 4th from 6 - 9:30 PM on the SCPC Patio!Celebrate the 4th of July with our Marines and their families from Camp Pendleton. We’ll have entertainment, a hamburger and hot dog BBQ, and then we’ll watch the spectacular Fireworks show from the San Clemente Pier.

PRAY FOR A DEPLOYED MARINE

We need 200 Prayer Partners for our Marines!Things are changing rapidly for the 1st Combat Engineer Battalion. With the new emphais on Afghanistan, half of the battalion has been sent there to support various other Marine combat units. The roads, paths and hills need to be safe and clear of explosive devices for our troops to navigate by vehicle on foot. "Our" 1CEB Marines are responsible for this very dangerous task, which will be a 7 month deployment.Let's rally behind "our" Marines and bring them home safely with our prayers. Please contact Chuck Herpick at 240.4193 or Kelly King at 492.6158 x34 to get "YOUR" Marine. Pray for him, write letters to him and send gifts to him. What a terrific opportunity to share God's love!

MARINE MINISTRY

We are blessed to have a number of Marine families call this church home. But in addition, we try to reach out to every Marine that needs a family and a "home away from home." We have a thriving ministry that welcomes home deployed Marines of the 1st CEB, we serve a Thanksgiving meal each year, throw baby showers for expectant Marine wives, gather gifts for Christmas - generally help out where ever we can!
For more information contact Chuck Herpick.

WELCOME-HOME OUR MARINES GIFT DRIVE

When our Marines come home from Iraq or Afghanistan after a 6 or 7 month deployment, they come home to any empty barracks. SCPC Marine Outreach Ministry is creating Welcome Home Gift Bags for our 1st CEB Marines. We want to give them a Christ-felt welcome home from their long ordeal. We are in need of the following items for the marines returning from Iraq:

email from IRAQ

To whom it may concern,

Good Morning my name is RP3 lewis and I am currently serving my First tour in Iraq . This time of year it’s extremely humid. We arrived here on alsaad in early April. I am stationed with the 2d Marine Aircraft Wing out of Cherry Point , NC . We will be leaving in late October- November time frame. I have received your link from one of my friends and I understand that I can obtain some Care Packages from your organization. I work in the Chaplain's Office and one of my duties is to ensure that the morale & welfare of the Marines & Sailors in my unit are high. We have contacted other organizations, such as the USO, who has supported us with phone cards and Care Packages. Believe me these care packages make a difference to the troops it increases the morale of the unit especially the single marines. The ratio is 25 females: 75 males in my unit.

My mailing address is:

This is some of the stuff we can use: toiletries, snacks , games like nintento ,cd’s, dvds for movie night, for the females bath& body works products, hot chocolate, candy, socks, or mp3 are also welcomed, tshirts, air freshners, energy boosters. I can go on but again these are just examples.I appreciate your willingness to help however you can.

Very Respectfully
RP3 Lewis,Lifa.L
