ANY THOUGHT ?

my neighbor next door put up a small sandbag fox hole / mini bunker. it's an inside running joke between him & I. He is a retired Green Beret 95 - 09 .... IED took him out of the fight.

Anyway he put up a US Army flags / plus his Green Beret flag. Mike is a really cool guy ! I put my USMC flag & my 9/11 flag. Now he put a small fox hole up.... we both have about 1.5 acres of land to play one. So now I want to put up a sandbag bunker .... any ideas ? I got about 200 sandbags, plus a empty 55 gallon drum, lumber & 2 old school USMC helmets. I already made up Skull & Bones signs :)

the pic is an idea of the terrain I'm working with :)

Volunteers needed for Seabee Deployment/Family Day

Good afternoon everyone!

On Saturday, July 11th, a Seabee unit from Lakehurst NAES will be holding a Deployment/Family Day and we're looking for a few good volunteers ;)

The event will be held in two parts: one will be from 8:30 am to 12:30 pm and consist of serving coffee, cake etc. to the families coming in who will be getting their deployment briefings. The second part of the day will run from 12:30 pm to 4:30 pm - that will be the BBQ fun of the day. The crowd expectations are around 400 people.

For those of you who are unaware, Lakehurst has a notorious place in New Jersey history as the site of the Hindenberg disaster, and our SeaBees (or Construction Battalions) have had their own place in our country's history stretching back to World War II. They build bases, air strips, roads - you get the idea. Their unofficial motto is "Can do"!

If you are able to assist in any part of the day or the entire day, please let me know. We'd love to see you there. If you can help, I'd need the following information if you do not have military ID:

1) Name of the driver of the vehicle
2) Driver's license number
3) Names of all others in the vehicle
4) Make and model of vehicle

Thank you everyone for all you do!!!

JULY 4TH MARINE BBQ

Save the date - July 4th from 6 - 9:30 PM on the SCPC Patio!Celebrate the 4th of July with our Marines and their families from Camp Pendleton. We’ll have entertainment, a hamburger and hot dog BBQ, and then we’ll watch the spectacular Fireworks show from the San Clemente Pier.

PRAY FOR A DEPLOYED MARINE

We need 200 Prayer Partners for our Marines!Things are changing rapidly for the 1st Combat Engineer Battalion. With the new emphais on Afghanistan, half of the battalion has been sent there to support various other Marine combat units. The roads, paths and hills need to be safe and clear of explosive devices for our troops to navigate by vehicle on foot. "Our" 1CEB Marines are responsible for this very dangerous task, which will be a 7 month deployment.Let's rally behind "our" Marines and bring them home safely with our prayers. Please contact Chuck Herpick at 240.4193 or Kelly King at 492.6158 x34 to get "YOUR" Marine. Pray for him, write letters to him and send gifts to him. What a terrific opportunity to share God's love!

MARINE MINISTRY

We are blessed to have a number of Marine families call this church home. But in addition, we try to reach out to every Marine that needs a family and a "home away from home." We have a thriving ministry that welcomes home deployed Marines of the 1st CEB, we serve a Thanksgiving meal each year, throw baby showers for expectant Marine wives, gather gifts for Christmas - generally help out where ever we can!
For more information contact Chuck Herpick.

WELCOME-HOME OUR MARINES GIFT DRIVE

When our Marines come home from Iraq or Afghanistan after a 6 or 7 month deployment, they come home to any empty barracks. SCPC Marine Outreach Ministry is creating Welcome Home Gift Bags for our 1st CEB Marines. We want to give them a Christ-felt welcome home from their long ordeal. We are in need of the following items for the marines returning from Iraq:

email from IRAQ

To whom it may concern,

Good Morning my name is RP3 lewis and I am currently serving my First tour in Iraq . This time of year it’s extremely humid. We arrived here on alsaad in early April. I am stationed with the 2d Marine Aircraft Wing out of Cherry Point , NC . We will be leaving in late October- November time frame. I have received your link from one of my friends and I understand that I can obtain some Care Packages from your organization. I work in the Chaplain's Office and one of my duties is to ensure that the morale & welfare of the Marines & Sailors in my unit are high. We have contacted other organizations, such as the USO, who has supported us with phone cards and Care Packages. Believe me these care packages make a difference to the troops it increases the morale of the unit especially the single marines. The ratio is 25 females: 75 males in my unit.

My mailing address is:

This is some of the stuff we can use: toiletries, snacks , games like nintento ,cd’s, dvds for movie night, for the females bath& body works products, hot chocolate, candy, socks, or mp3 are also welcomed, tshirts, air freshners, energy boosters. I can go on but again these are just examples.I appreciate your willingness to help however you can.

Very Respectfully

SUPPORTING THE TROOPS Riding Across America

http://shastasalutetoamerica.com/index.html

Letter from the PublisherSHASTA SALUTE TO AMERICA: I am sure many of you are wondering why we are shamelessly promoting an out of area event even so far as to give them our May cover. Speaking as plainly as I can for our entire family of magazines we simply want this event which is just over the Oregon-California border to be as successful as we can help make it. Quick Throttle believes its time that we as riders send as strong a message as we an to the City of Hollister and its feeble minded city and county government that when you cancel as great an event as the Hollister Freedom Rally and in so doing kick us and 100,000 other riders to the curb we won’t be back! Instead we will go where we are made to feel welcome and spend our hard earned money there. Such an event is the Shasta Salute to America Rally. Please help us send a signal to the Hollisters, the Snohomishes and others who think they can continue to inflice absurd “security costs” on us despite the events mentioned having impeccable safety and behavior records. Your attendance at this landmark event that honors our country and our military will send that message loud and clear. Join us over the 4th of July weekend and watch as rally history is made!Northwest PublisherMike Dalgaard

http://www.journeyforfreedom.org/

My name is Dan Harris and am the founder/director of the Journey For Freedom. Each year we travel across America to support our troops, honor our veterans past and present, and revere those who have made the ultimate sacrifice for our country.
Our goal is to college educate every American child who lost a parent due to war since 1991. (Gulf War) Children, through no fault of their own, that will be without a parent for the balance of their lives. Who knows better then they, the cost of war, and perhaps with higher education will become the leaders of future generations and will lead this world to peace.
We meet Thursday, May 14, 2009, 11 am at the Flag Pavillion, Tahoma National Cemetery, Covington, WA. After a brief ceremony to honor our fallen, we leave 11:30 sharp! The Fort Lewis honor guard will strike our colors.
Please join with us at Tahoma National Cemetery for our “kickoff “ ceremony then ride as far as you can, whether it be just over the Cascades or into Post Falls, Idaho! Our first nights stop at Roadhouse Cycles and Hot Rod Café. Whether you show for the ceremony, or join in along the route for a while, all are welcome.
After a 3000 mile, 8 ½ day adventure across this country, we arrive at Patriot Harley-Davidson in Fairfax, VA, for a weekend of camaraderie, reverence, and perhaps spiritual reflection. I am struck by the hundreds of thousands of other patriots who make this annual trek to DC to show their support for our troops around the world. Far beyond what you will ever see on the news.
Not mandatory, but everyone who buys a ride package ($125), will receive a 2009 JFF ride shirt this year, a 10” JFF back patch and 3” JFF “Honor our fallen heroes” vest patch, plus JFF ride bracelet, JFF participation certificate, a daily evening meal, some lunches, roadside snacks, water and at this stage, four nights of the eight, free camping or lodging. This helps pay for fuel for the chase vehicle and trailer. Although many perks are supplied for signed riders, all riders are responsible for their own food, fuel, lodging, and insurance. Print and sign ride waiver, and your size of shirt.
If you would like to advertise your name or logo on the ride trailer or motor home, your ad starts for as little as $125. If you would like to donate for fuel or directly to the JFF college scholarship fund, contact us at www.JourneyForFreedom.org or send check or money order to: Journey For Freedom or JFF Fund, 11504 Kent-Kangley Rd., Kent, WA 98030. This is for our troops, their children and our future. Any and all donations are greatly appreciated. Thank you!

1/5 support

Hello,

Thank you for taking a second out of your busy work schedule, to read my little letter. My name is Josh Wright I have adopted the 1st Battalion 5th Marines stationed out of Camp Pendleton Oceanside, Ca during Operation Iraqi Freedom as well as Operation Enduring Freedom. I know a few Marines that have deployed back out to defend our country, a third to fifth tour. The Marines they understand the sacrifices & are willing to make them. They are afraid that they will be for gotten well on deployment. Please I would like to see that not happen !! These brave Marines I have had the honor to meet them personally, they are more then HEROES in my book. They are legends !

I was just wondering if your family, friends, church & co-workers would like help support some Marines deploying out? By sending the Marines thick boot socks(size 6-12), underwear (size 32-36) , foot cream, hand warmer pack/heat packs, body wash / lotion, instant hot cocco mix, baby wipes, eye drops, chewing tobacco, batteries, small flash lights, travel size snacks and beef jerky. Those are just a few of the items the Marines ask for. It’s just something to place a small smile on their young faces & let them know we have not for gotten about them. The Marines & troops always enjoying getting letters of support, the Sunday funnies, jokes, magazines likes ( FMF, Maxim, STUFF, car & truck ) care package or anything for that matter from some one they have never met.

Flat Rate priority mail boxes are always a cheap way to go. It cost around $9 - $13 to send a flat rate box, but you can pack it as every as you like. Please make sure to tell the post office you are sending the box to a war zone. They will give you a customs form you need to fill out…. It will ask what kind of items are in the box, just write in candy. The box will get to the Marines a lot faster.
If you would like to donate items …. The locations are listed below.

Military Moms Make Care Packages as Iraqis Head to the Polls | NBC Bay Area

All -

There is a link to the news coverage of our first Care Packaging for 2009 at the bottom of the page.

Kelly - I see your sweatshirt in there and I know its you! :D
Jim you and I are caught on camera too -
They also managed to catch a glimpse of me putting things in a box, just my arm but I know its my arm because I have on my picture bracelet with Erik's pics on it!
Great job all - and thanks for my new friends who came to help.
