Warrior Champions: Going for Gold

Dear Robbie,

While all eyes have been on the race to the White House, our Warrior Champions have their eyes on another prize: gold medals at the 2008 Paralympics in Beijing, China.

As injured Iraq veterans, Scott Winkler and Carlos Leon confronted unique challenges as they prepared for the Games. Carlos survived a year serving in the Sunni Triangle, but tragically broke his neck in a swimming accident following his return home. He is now the world record-holder in the discus throw. Scott became paralyzed below the waist during his tour in Iraq, but has since set the world record in shot put. These men faced adversity head-on and succeeded, and IAVA is proud to have been a part of their journey to Beijing.

With the Opening Ceremony for the Paralympics only a day away, Scott Winkler and Carlos Leon are in Beijing, preparing to compete. Because of the generosity of IAVA supporters like you, they received $20,000 to assist them in their training over the past few months. Both are strongly favored to bring home gold medals for the United States.

1.40% of all workers in L. A. County ( L. A. County has 10.2 million people)are working for cash and not paying taxes. This is because they are predominantly illegal immigrants working without a green card.

4.Over 2/3 of all births in Los Angeles County are to illegal alien Mexicans on Medi-Cal , whose births were paid for by taxpayers.

5.Nearly 35% of all inmates in California detention centers are Mexican nationals here illegally

6.Over 300,000 illegal aliens in Los Angeles County are living in garages.

7. The FBI reports half of all gang members in Los Angeles are most likely illegal aliens from south of the border.

8.Nearly 60% of all occupants of HUD properties are illegal.

9. 21 radio stations in L. A. are Spanish speaking.10. In L. A. County 5.1 million people speak English,

Less than 2% of illegal aliens are picking our crops, but 29% are on welfare. Over 70% of the United States' annual population growth (and over 90% of California, Florida , and New York) results from immigration.29% of inmates in federal prisons are illegal aliens.

Governor Sarah Palin

This is what we just received from our very savy friend, Judy, who lives in Florida . She has a friend, Deb, who lives in Alaska and she asked what Deb's take was on Sarah Palin.

Judy, Sarah Palin is the US's answer to Margaret Thatcher! Anyone who thinks she cannot handle the job or deal briskly and efficiently with ANY issue, including foreign governments, they haven¹t met our Sarah.

As an Alaskan resident as well as a resident of Wasilla, AK, where Sarah Palin was at one time Mayor I can speak with confidence. Governor Sarah Palin of Alaska is exactly what she portrayed during her introduction this morning and exactly what our US Government needs. She is ethical to a fault (if there is such a thing), a refreshing change to the status-quo and as smart and determined a PERSON (gender really isn't an issue here as far as I'm concerned) as anyone could ask for at the head of government.

Sarah is no natïve ³small town mayor² ­ she just *started out* there. Btw, as Mayor of Wasilla, she brought this ³small town² through a lot of GOOD changes and left it at the end of her term having grown to the 4th largest CITY in Alaska ­ a lot of growth and a stronger economic base than ever before.

She has EXECTUTIVE experience *running a government* (something NONE of the other candidates can actually boast, even John McCain) as Governor of Alaska and got there by defeating the *incumbent* Republican Governor, who was definitely part of the ³old school² and who WAS very much in the pocket of the big oil companies. We in Al aska wanted change ­ and we got it in the person of Sarah Palin!

Sarah Palin is everything she looks to be and more. Her approval rating as Governor of Alaska has been as high as 95% and is currently leveled out consistently in the upper 80 percentile throughout the state (and in both parties) - the HIGHEST approval rating of ANY sitting Governor.

Sarah has been turning around corruption in the Legislature of Alaska - turning things on their ear for that matter; cutting spending in spite of the increased income the state is currently receiving due to the high oil prices - she has insisted on putting a huge amount of the "windfall" into savings for the future rather than spending, spending, spending - and has insisted from the get-go on what she refers to as "hon est, ethical and transparent governing" - no more closed door meetings and dealings - the big oil companies thought she would be a pushover and have learned better to their chagrin.

She understands the "real people" and the economic issues we all face (Alaskans along with the rest of the country) - she was one of "us" not long ago. Rather than passing useless "laws" or throwing money at pet projects, she (most recently) temporarily suspended the state gas tax (on gasoline at the pumps, fuel oil and natural gas for homes, etc.) and has ordered checks issued to ALL residents of Alaska this fall in an attempt to assist with the burden of high fuel costs for the upcoming winter. I could go on and on, but that's enough for now :). She isn't doing these things to be popular ­ she is doing it because her constituents are HURTING financially and she can help.

She became Governor of Alaska by defeating the Incumbent Republican Governor and doing it *without* the money or the support of the Republican Party, which was amazing in itself - and she won by a landslide. The "powers that be" at that time totally underestimated Sarah and learned better the hard way. She has done exactly what she claimed she was going to do and is just as popular today as the day she was elected - perhaps more so since even the Democrats up here seem to like her - she works well with both sides in the Legislature here.

Sarah "belongs" to us (Alaskans) .. and although we are going to be terribly sorry to see her leave before she finishes the job she started here (two years ago) straightening out OUR State ... we understand she is needed for a bigger purpose and hopefully her Lt. Governor will be able to fill her shoes here and continue the job.

As for worrying about what would happen if McCain were to die or step down or whatever ... Theta, up here in AK we've only been wondering how long we would be able to KEEP Sarah in Alaska and have seen her as our first woman President of the USA from the start. It's always been a matter of whether she would wait until the end of her TWO terms as Governor (no doubt at ALL that she would be re-elected if she ran for a second term at the end of her current term) ... or end up in Washington sooner. She could do the job TODAY.

Personally, I feel a lot better about McCain now that I know he has someone as savvy, as strong, as ethical and as steady as Sarah at his back. She will be an excellent Vice President .. and my guess is will be our US Republican Presidential candidate in four years - AND by then the country will KNOW her ­ will love and respect her as we do here - and she'll win by as much of a landslide as she did here in Alaska. I only wonder if McCain has a clue what he is unleashing on the US of A . She is going to be a fresh wind, but also a strong wind.

Is that enough of an endorsement? If not, I'll add this ... Jerry and I have for many years felt the best "vote" was to vote for the lesser of two "evils" and hope they didn't do too much damage. Two years ago during our State Governor's race was the first time EVER that we actually asked for not just a little sign to put in our yard showing our support of our candidate (somet hing we've never felt the desire to do at all before) - we asked for a full 4' x 8' "SARAH PALIN FOR GOVERNOR!" sign and were proud to have it. She hasn't let us or Alaska down. She will do the same for the USA if given the opportunity.

Sarah Palin for VP

So if you think McCain made a mistake picking Sarah Palin for VP because of her lack of experience? Sarah worked for two years as a community organizer. She was not paid and did it because she felt her property tax was too high and the city was spending too much money. She organized the people in her town and forced the city council to cut spending and reduce the real-estate tax. She then ran for a seat on the city council, won, served four years and again forced the city to cut spending and reduced taxes again. Then she ran for mayor served four years and again cut spending and reduced taxes. She then served two years on the oil and gas commission. She then ran for Governor, won 60% of the vote and has an 80% approval rating. After being elected she fired the Governors cook and said she can make her own meals. She then disbanded the governor’s security force saying they were not necessary because she carries her own gun and knows how to use it. She then sold the governor’s jet on eBay saying commercial aircraft would work ok for her.

Now let’s look at Bill Clinton. Bill was elected to Attorney General of Arkansas and served four years. He then ran for congress and lost. Then he ran for Governor and won, served four years and lost the election for his second term.

The population of Alaska and Arkansas is about the same. The Alaskan National Guard is 8200 people the Arkansas National Guard is 3000 (the Governor is the Commander and Chief of the National Guard). The state budget of Alaska is about twice the size of the budget of Arkansas. Alaska borders on Canada and Russia, because Alaska, Canada and Russia have a vested interest in the area, it is necessary for the Governor of Alaska to interface with governments officials from Russia and Canada on a regular basis. So who has more experience Bill Clinton 1992 or Sarah Palin 2008?

New PAC Will Elect Candidates to Support Troops, Strengthen National Security

SACRAMENTO-Move America Forward (MAF) (www.MoveAmericaForward.org), the prominent pro-troop group, has announced the launch of a PAC, or political action committee, to be known as MAF Freedom PAC (www.MAFFreedomPAC.com). The PAC will elect candidates to federal office who share the groups strong support for US troops and the War on Terror.

Move America Forward has become known for such projects as the “You Don ’t Speak for Me, Cindy” tour in which military families provided an alternate perspective than that of Cindy Sheehan, and the battle over the Berkeley CA Marine recruiting office, which resulted in TV ads, and several demonstrations, drawing thousands of supporters.

Recently, the group’s “From the Frontlines” telethon explored major applications of new media and raised over a million dollars for their care package program. The program runs year-round and sends coffee, cookies, and other items to troops in Iraq and Afghanistan from individual Americans who sponsor them through their website and include personal messages that get printed on the products.

MAF Freedom PAC will draw on the expertise and experience of Move America Forward and apply them to the political field in this election. Their media savvy and good relationships with many in the conservative community are expected to enable them to play a major role in this pivotal election year.

The PAC will focus on very competitive congressional races, but will also address the presidential race, in which Vietnam veteran John McCain is touting his support for the surge strategy and Sen Barack Obama is promoting his plan to withdraw troops from Iraq upon entering office. Targeted candidates will be announced soon, but the PAC’s website already features many races which they judge to be important and competitive.

THE JOB - URINE TEST

Like a lot of folks in this state, I have a job. I work, they pay me.I pay my taxes and the government distributes my taxes as it sees fit.In order to get that paycheck, I am required to pass a random urine testwith which I have no problem. What I do have a problem with is thedistribution of my taxes to people who don't have to pass a urine test.Shouldn't one have to pass a urine test to get a welfare check because Ihave to pass one to earn it for them? Please understand, I have noproblem with helping people get back on their feet. I do, on the otherhand, have a problem with helping someone sitting on their BUTT, doingdrugs, while I work. . . . Can you imagine how much money the statewould save if people had to pass a urine test to get a public assistancecheck? Pass this along if you agree or simply delete if you don't. Hopeyou all will pass it along, though . . Something has to change in thiscountry -- and soon!!!!!!!

I can live with her and her decisions it's a no brainer, her vs. Obama, Duh!!! Pro-life, pro-gun, smart, executive decision making what little she has is more than Obama and Biden and Hillary put together as well as commander of the Alaska National Guard.

Her son is in the Army and going to Iraq this month! (Now how's that about something precious to lose?) And on top of everything else she's a Woman, can't ask for much more than that in a man! Please pass along to others, Democrat, Republican and Independents.

Family and personal background Palin was born as Sarah Louise Heath in Sandpoint, Idaho, U.S.A., the daughter of Charles and Sally (Sheeran) Heath.[2] The family moved to Alaska when Sarah was an infant.[3] Charles Heath was a popular science teacher and coached track.[3] The Heaths were avid outdoors enthusiasts; Sarah and her father would sometimes wake at 3 a.m. to hunt moose before school, and the family would regularly run 5k and 10k races.[3]

Palin holds a bachelor's degree in journalism from the University of Idaho where she also minored in politics. She briefly worked as a sports reporter for local Anchorage television stations while also working as a commercial fisherman with her husband, Todd, her high school sweetheart.[3] One summer when she was working on Todd's fishing boat, the boat collided with a tender while she was holding onto the railing; Palin broke several fingers.[3] Outside the fishing season, Todd works for BP at an oil field on the North Slope[9] and is a champion snowmobiler, winning the 2000-mile "Iron Dog" race four times.[3] The two eloped shortly after Palin graduated college; when they learned they needed witnesses for the civil ceremony, they recruited two residents from the old-age home down the street.[3] Todd is a Native Yup'ik Eskimo.[3] The Palin family lives in Wasilla, about 40 miles (64 km) north of Anchorage.[10]

On September 11, 2007, the Palins' son Track joined the Army. Eighteen years old at the time, he is the eldest of Palin's five children.[10] Track now serves in an infantry brigade and will be deployed to Iraq in September. She also has three daughters: Bristol, 17, Willow, 13, and Piper, 7.[11] On April 18, 2008, Palin gave birth to her second son, Trig Paxson Van Palin, who has Down syndrome.[12] (Sarah returned to the office three days after giving birth.[13]) Palin refused to let the results of prenatal genetic testing change her decision to have the baby.
